Simple Past Tense

Simple past tense is one of the tenses that discusses about past, such as one hour ago, last year, and yesterday. It can discuss our past holidays and activities that we do. Here is the formula of past tense :


Formula:

(+) : Subject + Verb 2 + Object.

Example:

I did my homework yesterday.

He cleaned the desk a year ago. 


(−) :  Subject + did not + Verb 1 + Object

Example:

I didn't eat my lunch an hour ago.

I didn't get a good score on my previous test.


(?) : Did + Subject + Verb 1 + Object

Example: 

Did I get a good mark on the previous test?

Did you go to Bali last week?

Reason: In interrogative sentence,

(?) = Did my mother bake cookies a year ago?


(+) = She decided to study in the University.   

(?) =  Did she decide to study in the University?


(−) = I didn't give a Christmas present to you during last winter. 

(?) = Did I give a Christmas present to you during last winter?


(−) = My teacher didn't want to repeat the explanation

(?) =  Did my teacher want to repeat the explanation?

Reason: We use called due to time signal, four years ago. Hence, we use the verb 2 of call, i.e. called.

Reason: The answer is B, because the verb 2 of ride is rode. In addition, they have ago word which means past time.

Reason: The verb 2 of try is tried. Also, in the sentence they have previous test which means explanation during the past.

Simple Future Tense

 Simple Future tense is one of the tenses that discusses about future, such as next day, week, year, month, tomorrow. It can discuss our future plans and activities that we plan to do. Here is the formula of future tense : Formula: (+) : Subject + Will + Verb 1 + Object. Example: I will clean my desk tomorrow He will go to the gym next day.  Be noted when we are using future tense, the verb is still verb one for any subjects.  ( −) :  Subject + will not + Verb 1 + Object Example: I will not go to the mall with you next year.
